Naturalization

Congratulations!

You are ready to become a U.S. Citizen! The naturalization team at Catholic Migration Services is happy to assist you in the conclusion of your immigration journey! Before moving forward, here are a few things you need to know about our team.

How We Help Legal Permanent Residents Become U.S. Citizens

The naturalization team at Catholic Migration Services is led by a supervising attorney and naturalization coordinator and is supported by a group of paralegals, counselors, and volunteers. Our staff is passionate about providing quality full representation to qualified legal permanent residents who want to apply for citizenship wherever they are in the United States. To better serve the community, we use different methods to assist permanent residents and help them apply for and gain their citizenship, such as:

  • Workshops
  • Partnerships with law firms throughout the city of New York

We help applicants with any type of citizenship case – if you are eligible to apply, we will help you with the process. Unlike some other legal providers, we do not shy away from a challenging case. Over the years, we built a reputation for helping permanent residents who:

  • Have multiple arrests
  • Need a medical exemption
  • Have a difficult immigration history

If you fall within any of the categories above, we will complete a thorough analysis of your case to make sure you are eligible. If we find you to be eligible after this analysis, we will help you with the naturalization process.

How the Process Works

The application for naturalization is considered the conclusion of your immigration history. It will be your last time appearing in front of immigration. As a result, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will review your immigration file very thoroughly. To ensure that there are no problems with your case, the naturalization team will have to know everything about your history. We assemble the information in a series of steps.

  1. Prescreening:

This is the initial contact our team will have with you. After initial contact, we will ask basic questions and request a copy of your documents. Once reviewed, you will be moved from prescreening to our ready-for-intake list.

*Providing a copy of your documents is crucial. Failure to do so, will delay progress and your case will not be moved to the next step.

  1. Intake:
The Naturalization team will contact you to schedule a 45-minute to 1-hour session via video call, phone or in person to review your immigration history. This is a very important step and will help us determine how to assist you and if your case qualifies for a medical exemption and/or fee waiver.

*Not all caseworkers are accredited representatives or attorneys and are unable to provide legal advice. They can document your questions and pass them to the supervising attorney.

  1. Fill out application:
At this stage, we’ll have all the necessary information to complete the U.S. citizenship application. Next, we’ll schedule a phone or video appointment to review questions in Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.
  2. Review and sign:
Once all forms are completed, we’ll prepare the application package for review by our supervising attorney. After review, we’ll send the finalized package to you for signing to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). If forms are completed in person, you’ll review and sign the forms at our office.

We will be with you from the beginning to the end of the process! Let us help you celebrate your journey!
