Catholic Migration Services Fall Benefit in Review

On Friday November 8th CMS staff gathered with major donors and longtime supporters of CMS at the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle. This gathering was sponsored by Time Warner, Inc. which shares CMS’ commitment to civic engagement. Guest were treated to live music by Robert Marcic and a great view of Central Park and the surrounding cityscape.

During the evening guests learned about the legal services CMS provides from the attorneys in our three primary programs: Immigration Legal Services, the Immigrant Tenant Advocacy Program, and the Immigrant Worker’s Rights Program. Speaking on behalf of Time Warner’s General Counsel,Kwanza Butler shared a few words about Time Warner’s commitments to civic engagement , and their support of Catholic Migration Services. Robert McCreanor, Director of Legal Services, and Fr. Patrick J.Keating, Chief Executive Officer, spoke about the effective impact CMS makes in immigrant communities every day. Shortly thereafter Sharone Schwartz-Kaufman, Supervising Immigration Attorney introduced Nasreen Siddiqui, a client who she represented in removal defense litigation. Mrs. Siddiqui commended Sharone for supporting her throughout the the process.She acknowledged that Sharone was tactful,resourceful, and diligent about her case. As a result of Sharone’s efforts Mrs. Siddiqui’s future in the United States is secure.
