CMS Hosts Legal Clinic at Flushing Social Services Fair

CMS hosted a legal clinic at the Immigration Fair held at St. Michael’s Parish in Flushing, Queens on Sunday. Along with Catholic Charities, Fidelis Care, and other organizations, CMS attended the fair to make their services available to Flushing residents.

Megan Helbling, CMS immigration counselor and outreach specialist, hosted a legal clinic at the fair. Megan provided basic immigration screening to approximately 25 people, discussed possible relief options and explaining requirements for different types of immigration filings. For people with viable immigration cases, Megan scheduled follow-up appointments at Catholic Migration Services’ office. For those who needed assistance with employment issues, she also conducted basic workers’ rights screening, referring those cases to CMS’ Linea Laboral (labor hotline, 1-877-52-LABOR) team.
