CMS and Filipino Apostolate Host Seminar on Filipino Immigration Concerns

On Saturday, CMS and the Filipino Apostolate co-hosted a seminar about immigration concerns specific to the Filipino community at Church of the Ascension in Elmhurst, Queens. The seminar provided members of the Filipino Apostolate with information on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and other immigration topics relevant to the Filipino community.

A volunteer attorney with the Filipino American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Licelle Cobrador, explained the DACA application process. A representative from the Philippine Consulate, Felipe Carino, presented on other topics of concern to the Filipino community, such as dual citizenship and voter registration. CMS immigration counselor and outreach specialist Megan Helbling discussed CMS’ immigration, employment and housing services available to the Filipino community.
