Ana Elena Smith
Ana Elena Smith is a Paralegal on the Pro Se Plus Program. She earned both a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity from Stanford University.
Prior to joining CMS, Ana Elena worked as a Community Engaged Learning Coordinator at Stanford University, where she supported newly arrived immigrant youth from Central America by coordinating student volunteers, managing logistics with local schools, and assisting in classroom instruction. She also worked as a Research Assistant on a project examining the role of the federal judiciary in immigration enforcement. She interned with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) in New York, where she supported unaccompanied minors with legal needs and provided translation services in Spanish and French. Ana Elena has also volunteered with BorderSpeaks and Al Otro Lado, providing direct support to migrant children and asylum seekers.
Ana Elena is fluent in Spanish and has working proficiency in Haitian Creole.
