Shelby Dorth

Shelby is an administrative assistant at Catholic Migration Services and enjoys using her role to make the office a warm and welcoming place for community members, clients, and staff. She graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. in Language and International Health.

Shelby joined CMS as a Removal Defense Paralegal through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and assisted clients navigating removal proceedings with immigration-benefits applications, legal intakes, and translation and interpretation. She has advanced proficiency in Spanish.

Prior to joining CMS, Shelby volunteered as an interpreter at a free clinic in her hometown and supported newly resettled refugee families through English teaching, home set-ups, and other essential services with Every Campus a Refuge at Clemson University. She also worked as a Case Aide at her local refugee resettlement agency. Working closely with immigrant and refugee families through the best and worst times of their lives has instilled in her a deep sense of duty to CMS’ mission of advancing equality and social justice. Shelby loves learning from her clients and her CMS family every day.
