CMS Hosts Immigration & Workers’ Rights Clinic in Rego Park

Saturday, November 3, 2012

On Saturday, CMS immigration counselor Megan Helbling, Queens office receptionist Nanette Morales, and Línea Laboral operator Rebecca Rybaltowski held a clinic for immigration and workers’ rights at Our Lady of the Angelus Parish in Rego Park, Queens.

Megan Helbling hosted the immigration legal clinic, providing basic immigration screening to approximately 10 people, discussing possible relief options and explaining requirements for different types of immigration filings. For people with viable immigration cases, Megan scheduled follow-up appointments at Catholic Migration Services’ Queens office.

Rebecca Rybaltowski hosted the workers’ rights clinic, providing community members with more information about Línea Laboral, the toll-free worker’s rights hotline operated by Catholic Migration Services. She also conducted basic screenings with people who had labor concerns, reporting any viable cases to the Department of Labor.
