On Tuesday night, 200 Queens residents packed St. Sebastian’s Parish Center in Woodside for the Queens Housing Coalition’s meeting with Related and Sterling Equities, developers of the controversial plan for Willets Point. CMS, a member of the coalition, was there to provide information about our legal services and to answer attendees’ immigration and housing legal questions.

On New Year’s Day, the Diocese of Brooklyn held its annual celebration of Haitian Independence Day at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Brooklyn. Deacon Paul Dorsinville, CMS’ Health Education Coordinator, spoke at the event, attended by more than 1,000 community members.

Approximately 120 people attended December’s QHC/CMS meeting on Tuesday evening.
On Tuesday night, the Queens Housing Coalition/CMS hosted its final monthly meeting of the year, followed by a holiday party. CMS, a member of the coalition, was on hand to provide information about our legal services and to answer attendees’ immigration and housing legal questions.

On Tuesday afternoon, CMS immigration counselors Corrylee Drozda and Megan Helbling visited the Dominican Academy, a Catholic college preparatory school for girls on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. They met with two classes of high school seniors on Catholic social teaching to share CMS’ mission and services and to discuss immigration policy with the students.
