Faith leaders open the press conference with an interfaith prayer representing several faith traditions

On Friday, faith community and congressional leaders met for a press conference at The Community Church of New York to promote just and human comprehensive immigration reform (CIR). The press conference was organized by the New York State Interfaith Network and was co-sponsored by several community organizations from diverse cultural and faith backgrounds in New York. The press conference opened with a participatory, interfaith prayer representing Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh faith traditions. Catholic Migration attended the press conference to demonstrate our support for CIR on behalf of the immigrant communities in Brooklyn and Queens we serve.

CMS Co-Sponsors Town Hall on Immigration Reform in Corona

CAM00261On Wednesday evening, over 120 Queens residents gathered at P.S. 19 in Corona for a town hall meeting on immigration reform with Congress Members Joseph Crowley and Grace Meng. The event was hosted by several community organizations–the Hispanic Federation, Dominico-American Society, Desis Rising Up and Moving (DRUM), La Fuente, Make the Road NY, New Immigrant Community Empowerment, Queens Community House, and Catholic Migration Services. CMS Provides Legal Services at Queens Housing Coalition Meeting on Willets Point Campaign

CAM00246At its monthly meeting in Woodside on Tuesday evening, the Queens Housing Coalition discussed the latest developments in its campaign for affordable housing at Willets Point with community members. CMS, a member of the coalition, was there to provide information about our legal services and to answer immigration and housing legal questions.
